Sevens and more Sevens! May 7, 2007

Apart form the local elections this week, we have had a magnificent week of rugby here in Wirral West – starting last weekend 29th April with the Mini 7’s Tournament in Hoylake. We could not have hoped for better weather and over 1,000 people attended with hundreds of youngsters. 14 clubs from across the UK took part with 61 teams playing 150 games. It was a magnificent family day out. Well done Hoylake Rugby Club.The photo at the beginning shows the Caldy under 7’s team and the one below is the Wirral under 11’s
I was delighted to asked to present the awards, along with the President of Hoylake Rugby Club, Jack Kertom.
This weekend I am at the Caldy 7’s with another bumper crowd and lots of happy friendly faces cheering on their favourites. I am pictured below with Club Secretary Roger Flashman, (Ok its in the beer tent, but what does one do when it rains!)

I congratulating the Caldy team, I hope you won’t support the appaling betrayal by that Old Etonian Cameron in abandoning Garmmar Schools –
WKG and Calday are excellent, Hilbre and the Pensbys are far better than the Wallasey or Birkenhead comprehensives.
