“As a consequence of the original Mail on Sunday article that I, Esther McVey, reproduced and published on my blog on the 10th-17th December 2006, I am happy to accept that Mr Stephen Hesford MP was never intending to participate in the entirety of the tour and had decided to withdraw from the tour altogether prior to the publication of my article. My reference to him attending the full tour was therefore inaccurate. I therefore regret any distress caused to Mr Hesford and his family by the article.”

This presumably is the same Stephen Hesford who made an election promise in 2005 to support a Referendum on the European Constitution.Yet so far has made no comment explaining his betrayal of his promises. At least fellow Labour MP Frank field has the courage of his convictions to stick to his election promises

Considering some of the patronising and anti-woman leaflets he put out against you in the 2005 election, the MP may have not gone to Australia (lucky old Australia then) but he is still a hypocrite. Coming to think of it, wasn’t there an incident in the 1997 General Election where Hesford had to publically apologise in an advert in the Daily Post over untrue remarks one of his election leaflets had made about David Hunt.

I’d check your facts before posting on here Sam. You can get sued for blog entries you know!

Re Julian,

Are you saying these facts about S Hesford are untrue?

He has a record of mounting vicious personal attacks in his leaflets in 1997, 2001 and 2005. I suggest you read the Daily Post for April 30th, 1997 or thereabouts.

Indeed I would suggest that Ms McVey posts these leaflets on her blog in particular the April 1997 one on which he had to apologise

What puzzles me is that the Mail on Sunday, a newspaper with a circulation of about 5,000,000 makes an “incorrect” statement about him and he accepts their apology with no costs. His Conservative opponent cuts and pastes the Mail’s story on to her blog (with a readership I suspect of no more than 300) yet he ignores the Mail and sues her. This is just political opportunism.

Strikes me that Esther McVey worries him more than the Mail

As for Spamanon- just another Labour Party Troll

As for me, as I’m not in England, sue away

Another ex-pat, Sam? Perfect Mail fodder. I do think the Labour Party are just as culpable for trying to establish a relationship with the newspaper obsessed with immigration, and let us not forget- in the light of holocaust memorial day this week – the paper wich supported Oswal Moseley and the Nazis in the 1930s.

At least the Hospice will benefit. Or maybe it should have been sent to the McCann fund!

Ms McVey is correct in that there are bigger issues affecting the area.
