Ten Post Offices A Week Closed Under Labour January 25, 2008

Since Labour came to power in 1997, they have closed 4,875 sub-Post Offices – almost ten a week.
The Government’s announcement that it will shut down another 2,500 Post Offices will be a further blow to the network. It means that by the time of the next election Gordon Brown will have closed down a third of the entire Post Office network.
The Shadow Post Office Minister Charles Hendry said ‘that Labour’s cuts will hit the vulnerable the most. (Charles Hendry pictured below outside the Newton Post Office congratulating some of our helpers for saving the Post Offices in Wirral West and bucking the national trend of Post Office closures )
‘Post Offices are the lifeblood of any community. They are vital local institutions, just like a local school or pub, and essential for people who rely on them to collect benefits and pensions’
‘Instead of managing decline’, Mr Henry added, ‘the Government should be trying to bring new business opportunities to the network. He pointed to the Conservatives’ Post Office Action Plan, which would give Post Offices more freedom to offer a wider range of business services, allow them to work with carriers other than Royal Mail and encourage local councils to offer more services through local branches’

Your message for Liberal Democrats is hilarious! Ho Ho

Brian Reade hits the proverbial nail in his Mirror article today.
The Mail is obsesssed by the fact that one son is gay.
I’m sure Esther won’t employ any family members if she is elected!
And I don’t think she’s remotely interested in cricket.
Eric… you know your not allowed to mention cricket on this blog under pain of spending a year corresponding with “The Vote Burglar” (See my blog for the reference)!
Thanks for the corrections by the way. That’s the last time I let the wife type something, the son to proof read it and his best friend to post it on the blog!
